People who do not know love in the core of their being are stingy in their hearts. They seek to hoard the little love that they have for fear it will be taken from them. In actuality, the reverse is true. Love shrinks in response to hoarding and fear, which in turn multiplies the mistrust and anxiety. But to allow the love of God to take hold of us and to possess our hearts with its strength and beauty is to unlock the prison of fear and usher us into freedom of being able to love others. We are no longer poor; we are no longer paupers with nothing to offer. We have been given the riches of heaven, and we are free to live like queens, lavishing love and care on all those around us.
