novembre list of nonsense

since it's the 16th of november, i thought i would talk about sixteen things as of my lately. these are in no particular order. i hope you enjoy.

1. i can speak fluent french in my dreams. i wake up saying phrases and slowly forget it. zut, i wish i could take my final and a nap at the same time.
2. there are an abundance of striped skinny ties all over my room lately. i think half of my pay check goes to my future husband. they're just too good to leave behind. (this could be unhealthy.)
3. i've been listening to "sufjan stevens" more than anything this fall.
4. i've completed an entire journal.
5. one of my favourite feelings is when the holidays come around. i feel extremely blessed and ready for a break with school. oh please, four weeks go by fast.
6. i only wear my dad's nice wool socks now. (he doesn't know that yet.)
7. buying/looking for a car is an impossible task. it's like jeans shopping but worse.
8. mars hill articles are pretty much the only thing i read now.
9. i need to invest in more tights. i've been cursed with holes....in every single pair.
10. high buns are often applied in daily life for three reasons: one-cram sessions. two-photoshop editing. three-late school days. it's the norm guys.
11. i need to get film developed. i'm the best at putting it off.
12. i've gotten more complements on my handwriting than anything else this year.
13. i'm running out of places to put gifts. (and it's not even december yet.)
14. i buy too many dishes.
15. the book of joshua.
16. i have to invest in new mascara. gone gone gone.

1 9 .

today is the day because i sat here all day in my underwear listening to "Blondie" on the record player. i figure i should tribute this day.

i turn nineteen tomorrow. it's a scary feeling. sort of like the one when you turn eighteen, but worse.
i learned a lot about myself this year:

like how to love wherever i am.
i learned to make life less about me and more about others.
to be okay with change when you made all the plans in the first place.
i learned that if i'm not content in Christ, i'm not content.
i learned to be better friends with my sisters&brother.
i learned that i prefer
fall over summer
big spoons over small ones
& saving money over spending it.
i learned how to plan a wedding and be creative with deadlines.
i learned that sometimes i can cry a dozen times in one week and that's okay.
i learned that dancing like a spaz is fine, no one knows how to dance unless you are an ethnicity other than white.

i learned that at eighteen, i really love this thing called life.

& so,
cheers to nineteen.

absence is good sometimes.

have you liked my absence as of late?
here's a bit of life for you.

 //park days//
 //sibs//
 //sunday with a precious boy.//
 //awaiting a school days end.//
//picture perfect.//
 //days when you spend the majority of your time looking at the clouds.//
 //track meets.//
 //beach days.//
//getting dizzy//
 //fulfilled.//

in him i am thankful

life is crucial and beautiful today.

i am thankful for family, and friends, and the single life. i'm thankful for my brother turning eleven today and an over abundance of cake, even though it sickens me to think upon the subject. i am thankful for hope, the hope that spring will be here soon. (snow will just not do.) i am thankful for a gracious savior that cares far beyond what i could imagine.

i am thankful most of all for a short life. one that we can make our own and appreciate every last bit of it. for you see, if life were longer it would be a much harder task.

thankful heart.

essence

Life is a bit absurd & feels too difficult. We're alive. That's all we really need to know.

she said it in not so many words

 january ended with a french exam, no inspiration whatsoever, and an impromptu trip to the grocery store for mildly okay donuts.
february started with an overwhelming amount of homework, a copious amount of inspiration, and lack of sleep.

 life.

 10.9.2011
irresponsible things i looove to do:

lay in bed for half in hour after i wake up.
never capitolize anything on my blog.
eat cake for breakfast.
procrastinate on papers.
pretend i'm epileptic.
leave the dishes in the sink.
let my phone die on purpose.
talk back to sales people.
skip shower days.

Life

hard
today.

but God is so good.

try hard, everyday.

Life is beautiful.
And sometimes it takes God waking you up at four in the morning to watch the sunrise to realize it.(the sky is splattered with color right now.)
I've been forgetting that this week it seems. Not taking time to enjoy the little things. Just sitting, musing, and being happy.

I hope your day starts out as good as mine.
Love, Mandy

May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.  He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.”

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
"A girl once held a small stone in her hand, she held it so tightly that her palm began to sweat and her fingers began to shake and then, it came to nothing because when she opened up her hand the rock still sat there, quietly without her tight grip, she could surely loose it easier she thought, she felt
and maybe it is true, but if we must hold something to tightly
then maybe it was never ours to keep in the first place.

She read my heart.

Life is so precious, and most of the time we don’t realize that till it’s too late.
We just try and make it through the day.
We do anything not to feel anymore.
Because that’s what we are.
A vessel of feelings.
With a heart at the core of it.
And when that heart is broken
the feelings surrounding it are broken
and painful
so we do anything not to feel them
day after day
week after week
until we find ourselves merely existing
well I don’t want to just exist
I want to live
I want to feel alive
I will shout it over and over again
‘I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive, I’m alive!’
until I believe that it is so

My friend Hana wrote this.
